About

October 11 is celebrated internationally as Day of the Girl Child to help galvanize worldwide enthusiasm for goals to better girls’ lives.

San Antonio’s girl-serving organizations have their own celebration around this day, Day of the Girl S.A., at Hemisfair's Yanaguana Garden. Join us Sunday, October 8, as we celebrate all the ways girls are unique! Tell the world about your special superpowers, enjoy hands-on activities, get a free T-shirt while supplies last, and more.

You’re a ROCKSTAR for supporting our girls and future leaders.

More girls are living in poverty and low-income households today than ten years ago.

This is significant because such girls face considerable challenges that affect their health, happiness, and achievement. Particularly, low-SES girls are less likely to have health insurance, experience more emotional health problems, have less access to extracurricular activities that promote positive development, such as sports, volunteer, community, and leadership experiences and have lower education outcomes over time, including lower preschool enrollment, lower reading and math proficiency and higher school dropout rates.
